[Solved] Linux the trash has reached it's maximum size

Linux the trash has reached it's maximum size.

I was trying to delete some files in a gui linux. And I run into this error message 'The trash has reached it's maximum size'. I did a little search online to find some of the methods don't work. But along the way, I found the fix.

First, open up Terminal, or XTerm, or CMD, whatever command line console. then type in:

Code: Select all

pico ~/.local/share/Trash/metadata
inside .local/share/Trash/metadata, there should be a number. It might be a very large number. Change it to 0 then write the file. And now it is fixed. Test it out by deleting a file.
